Original Statement

March 17th, 2020

The Fox Cities community has entrusted Pillars to deliver our mission: “to provide shelter, support, and solutions to address the housing needs in our community.” We take this mission very seriously and it will remain our focus throughout the COVID-19 crisis. Pillars will continue to run our core programs of shelter, supportive housing, and stable housing. Despite the dynamic and trying circumstances in front of us, we will continue to serve those who have no other place to call home.

We have modified our procedures, where possible, to protect the health and safety of our team members, clients, and volunteers. This includes extra cleanings, mandatory handwashing upon entry to shelter and at mealtimes, reconfiguration of space to maximize distance between clients, more frequent washing of bedding, etc.  Team members not engaged in direct services in shelter and housing programs are encouraged to work at home when possible. We have been working with local Health Departments to review procedural changes and anticipate next steps in the event of a positive COVID-19 test for a client or team members.

We live in a very compassionate, generous community and we’ve received many inquiries asking how people can help. Currently, we are in good shape for food and supplies. We are monitoring this closely and will put out a specific request for help in the near future. Until then, we ask that you temporarily postpone bringing donations or supplies to our facilities without first contacting us. Managing donations requires additional staff time and attention that just is not available at this time as we focus on continuing operations and serving our clients. The contact person for donations is Ryne Lodl, Community Engagement Manager (rlodl@pillarsinc.org or 920-734-9603).

If you are wondering how you can help Pillars in this time of great need, please consider a financial donation. In the near future we will be incurring extra costs to continue our services. Financial donations give us the most flexibility to respond to changing needs while still giving the greatest level of attention to our clients. If you wish to make a gift, please go to www.pillarsinc.org/donate/ or mail to:
