As Senior Director of Community Engagement, Scott’s role is to engage the community in the mission of Pillars and oversee the Pillars Community Engagement Team’s fundraising and volunteer program activities. Before the merger that created Pillars, Scott served as Executive Director of the Fox Valley Warming Shelter (now Pillars Adult Shelter) from 2014 to 2018. Previously, he worked in educational and human services roles with the YMCA of the Fox Cities, SOAR Fox Cities and Lutheran Social Services. He began his career as the editor for a small weekly newsletter in Milwaukee. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Scott has served on the boards of Celebrate Diversity Fox Cities and Voices of Men. He is co-founder of the Martin Luther King Celebration, a tradition in the Fox Cities since 1992, and was part of the Fox Cities’ Social Innovation Leadership Experience, class of 2015. Scott celebrated 30 years of marriage in 2019. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, playing basketball, volunteering to read to students at Horizons Elementary School, attending cultural events and supporting the Fox Valley’s thriving original music scene.
