Christine serves as shelter manager at Pillars Adult & Family Shelter. Before joining Pillars in 2015, she traveled to Louisiana to assist with disaster relief and spent some time as a stay-at-home mom. She also brings experience in customer service and assistant management into her role.
When asked about her work, Christine finds rewarding moments in every day. She says it’s seeing a client who has struggled with their sobriety for a year maintain their sobriety and successfully move into housing on their own. It’s having a new shelter client advocate start who fits into the Pillars culture and “just gets it.” It’s watching the case managers support their clients through ups and downs and seeing the joy and fulfillment the case managers have when a client connects to mental health care, employment, or housing.
Christine spends her time outside of work with her family. Her young son enjoys spending time with her, too – something she doesn’t take for granted. In the summer, she likes to hike, swim, camp, walk her dog, and do any activity outdoors. In the winter, she spends most of her free time watching TV curled up in front of the fireplace.
Where do you get your inspiration?
My life experiences continually inspire me to help others rise above and build a better life. I am inspired daily by the Pillars staff and their ability to endlessly support and appreciate our clients. The clients, they’re why we’re all here. The clients inspire me daily with their progress, successes, and personal growth.
