Lisa joined Pillars in June 2020 as the Community Engagement Director. She previously worked in the nonprofit sector, most recently leading InterSector from 2018 to 2020. InterSector is a northeast Wisconsin nonprofit capacity-building initiative supported by the J. J. Keller Foundation. Prior to that, Lisa served as Samaritan Counseling Center of the Fox Valley’s Development and Communications Director from 2011 to 2018.
Her professional background also includes spending about a decade as a freelance writer and editor, four years as a group fitness instructor, and five years working in R&D at Kimberly-Clark Corp. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering — proof that fundraising professionals come from varied backgrounds!
When asked about her favorite part of her job, Lisa says she loves making friends and saying thanks, which she says community engagement is all about.
Outside of work, Lisa spends a lot of time in her reading chair with nonfiction, novels, Time, and The Christian Century. She doesn’t remember a time she didn’t volunteer deeply at her church, First Presbyterian in Neenah, and she serves on the Mentorship Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Northeast Wisconsin Chapter.
Where do you get your inspiration?
