Giving Tuesday 2020 Recap

On the heels of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday. It happens every year on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. What is Giving Tuesday? According to a website for the movement, “GivingTuesday strives to build a world in which the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity and equity around the globe.”

Giving Tuesday falls during the 30-in-30 Match Campaign at Pillars in partnership with SECURA Insurance Co. Through their charitable fund at the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, SECURA will match up to $30,000 in contributions to Pillars from November 30 to December 31, 2020. The goal is to raise $30,000 in 30 days.

Today, we are amazed by and thankful for the generosity shown to Pillars on Giving Tuesday 2020. We received $7,851.45 in online donations from 26 donors. That money will be matched dollar for dollar as part of the 30-in-30 Match Campaign, doubling its impact. Those donations are critical to serving people experiencing homelessness in the Fox Valley and helping Pillars carry out its mission of providing shelter, support, and solutions to address the housing needs in our community.

Giving Tuesday might be over, but the giving does not have to stop. We challenge you to carry on that generosity and giving spirit throughout the year not just with monetary donations but with time and acts of kindness.
